These are the blood tests from the GP that Medicare usually covers. We work closely with amazing GPs in Melbourne and Sydney, who will listen intently and never dismiss or shame you for choosing to see a naturopath.
Functional Pathology Testing: Phase 3
Functional Pathology Testing is part of Phase 3 - and the results in healing your skin and hair from the inside out are astounding.
Most clients with skin and hair complaints typically have issues and imbalances in their gut and with their hormones, which can’t be seen from the surface level.
We use the most advanced and extensive gut and hormone tests available. The top two tests we use are;
Gut: GI Map or the GI360.
Hormones: DUTCH test.

Specific tests must be considered regarding skin, scalp and hair problems. Your GP may never request these specific ones. We work in 3-stages to get to the depths of your health concerns.
You likely need a gut test if you are experiencing (which can include but are not limited to); Excessive burping, Reflux, Indigestion, Feeling full easily, Stomach cramps, Bloating, Gassiness, Excessive flatulence, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Antibiotic use, Food poisoning.
Gut bugs, Parasites, Thrush, UTIs, Food intolerance, Mucus in your stool or Undigested food in your stool.
You likely need a hormone test if you are experiencing PMS (which can include but are not limited to);
Cramps and painful periods, Heavy bleeding, clotting, Irregular periods, Hormonal pattern acne, Male pattern hair growth, Excessive oil production, Persistent acne, Acne after coming off the pill, Hair loss, absent periods after coming off the pill, Sleep disturbances and insomnia.
Brain fog or difficulty concentrating, Constant fatigue and exhaustion, History of trauma, Ongoing stress, Anxiety, Mood swings and depression, Weight gain, Abdominal fat, Headaches and migraines, Hot flashes, Night sweats, Vaginal dryness or discomfort, Low libido, Breast tenderness or Fertility challenges

Here’s the reason why…
When your GP looks at your tests, they look for results that fall outside a reference range. If your results don’t fall outside those ranges, your GP typically sends you away without any real solution.
When those same tests are assessed from a Functional Naturopathic Perspective, we look for optimal ranges that lie within that same reference range, aka the whole spectrum of health. And this is where you get the answers you’ve been looking for!
Simply put, if you’re not in “optimal”, your health isn’t optimal. We want to uncover the source, target the disease and heal the whole body.
In-depth testing can help us highlight hidden diseases or ailments that can’t be diagnosed from surface level. These tests help us see what’s happening within—allowing us to heal the multifaceted nature of your physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.
Functional testing is always brought in as a Phase 3 strategy because your skin, scalp or hair issue may resolve with Phase 1 and 2 treatment alone.
Given that Functional Pathology tests are not covered by Medicare and incur out-of-pocket costs, our duty of care is to ensure that we have fully actioned Naturopathic, Foundational, and low-cost options first.

Step 1: We authorise the test best suited to your case.
Step 2: The pathology lab sends you an email.
Step 3: You nominate the address you want the test kit sent out and pay the lab directly.
Step 4: They send you the kit, and you collect samples in the privacy of your own home and then mail them back.
Step 5: It takes 2-4 weeks to get results.
Step 6: Once the results are in, we schedule a consult. we will email the results to you 15 minutes before our appointment.
Step 7: In the consult, we will through the findings page by page and provide you with a holistic treatment plan!
Step 8: We’ll send you a follow-up email outlining all the steps.
